Children
The family is central to life at Caserío del Mirador, and for most parents spending time together and the happiness of the children is the key to a successful holiday. Children will make new friends, play together and experience new things in a safe environment. Although playing in the pool and going to the beach will be the highlight for many children, there are a wide variety of activities suitable for children of all ages and plenty of space to enjoy the countryside and play games.
In the vicinity of the house there is a sand pit, ride on tractors, art materials, a big box of Lego and plenty of toys. For young children there is a swing seat, see saw and slide, and for older ones a climbing frame with a larger slide and swings. There is also a trampoline. The pool is 10m by 5m with Roman steps going down into the shallow end, and large 50cm bowls are provided for toddlers who just want to splash around and play safely.
There is the opportunity for children to be with animals. There are rabbits and sometimes baby rabbits, there is the house cat Rosa and the stable cats Archie and Benjy. Polly and Pepe are the house goats, Ruby is a Palomino pony and Fury is a lively Shetland pony. The most recent addition are Beryl and Cheryl, the baby pot bellied pigs.
If you want more than relaxing on the pool terrace, there are extensive grounds to explore and plenty of private spots if you want to take a picnic. There are a variety of local walks ranging from easy strolls to exhilarating mountain climbs. A half hour walk makes for a pleasant way for the family to spend time together in the early evening. The flora and fauna of the area may be of interest too, budding botanists and zoologists will find plenty to arouse their curiosity. For the little ones there are off-road buggies and back packs that you are welcome to use.
For days out there are a variety of beach resorts within a half hour’s drive with good facilities for children including play areas. If children are interested in history there are castle ruins, hilltop forts and look outs along the coast, a legacy of the turbulent times of the Moors and pirate invasions from the sea. There is tennis, riding and cycle hire in the area. We can give you guidance on theme parks and their suitability for the ages of your children. There are natural waterfalls near Callosa, a safari park near Pego, and Benidorm has a variety of parks from Terramitica for older children, water slides at Aqualandia, to the dolphins at Mundomar.
If anyone needs a break from the sun (or rain) there are plenty of books, jigsaws, toys and board games. There are TVs and a number of children’s DVDs. There is table tennis for older children and if you want to venture out to Benissa there is a leisure centre with indoor pool and gym with a crèche and some caves worth exploring in Bendioleig.
